Overview

This article will show you step by step how to assign categories to your products in TradeRunner.


Options

There are 2 options to assign a category to products

  1. Assign a Trade Me category to all products in a retailer category
    1. This is the quickest option if your retailer categories are well aligned to the Trade Me category. For example if your retailer category from your ecommerce store is Food Processors you can assign the Trade Me category 'Home & living > Kitchen > Small appliances > Food processors' so that ALL products from your retailer category are listed there.
    2. This DOES NOT WORK if your retailer categories are NOT well aligned to the Trade Me category. For example, if the retailer category is 'blenders' and contains a variety of products including food processors, stick blenders, handheld blenders then there is not a corresponding category on Trade Me that matches it. You should then assign categories to individual products.
    3. Create mapping rules - when you add new products to a category in your ecommerce store and a Trade Me marketplace category has been assigned in Trade Runner we will import the new product and assign the category automatically so that the new product lists on Trade Me.
  2. Assign a Trade Me marketplace category to a product(s)
    1. If your retailer categories do not match Trade Me categories then you will need to assign categories to individual products.


Assign a Trade Me category to a retailer category


  1. From the Dashboard, click Products - Trade Me - Needs category to list Tab.
  2. By default, you will see your retailer categories listed, so Category will be highlighted.
  3. If you are happy with the suggested Trade Me category, click the check box.
  4. If the suggested category is not appropriate, click 'Choose Category'.
  5. You can start typing by keyword to see the different options available or navigate the marketplace category tree to choose, or use previously used/suggested. Once you have selected a category, click 'Save category'.



Assign a marketplace category to a product(s)


  1. From the Dashboard, click Products - Trade Me - Needs category to list Tab. 
  2. By default, you will see your retailer categories listed. Click 'Products' so that you can view all individual products.
  3. If you are happy with the recommended Trade Me category, click the check box 
  4. If the suggested category is not appropriate, click 'Choose Category.  Or select multiple products by ticking the left hand tick box and using 'Choose a category to list in'.
  5. You can start typing by keyword to see the different options available or navigate the Trade Me category tree to choose a category or use previously used suggested. Once you have selected a category, click 'Save category' 
  6. Remember you can assign the same Trade Me category to more than 1 product by ticking the check box and clicking 'Choose a category to list in' at the top of the table. To find similar products, search by keyword first then select all.
